Deviation Actions

What do you think of your skills as a writer? Do you have an amazing imagination that knows no bounds? How about nearly perfect technical skills? Or are you part of the third group who hungers for growth as a writer and are eager to test out your skills? No matter what mixture you are, be prepared to boast your skills and challenge yourself with the dAWriterStrike’s writing exercises!

Basic Idea
If you’re wondering what all of my rambling is about, here’s what is going to be happening. I, Mirrorakay along with my fellow admins will be posting writing exercises every two weeks for our members to try their hands at. Some of these exercises will push your imagination while others will push at some of the more technical aspects of writing (not grammar or spelling, per se, but writing skills all the same). When these writing activities are posted, you will see a poet’s and a prose-et’s attempts in the body of the deviation; in the author’s comments you will be able to read the prompt that it is all based upon. From there we encourage all of our members to take several minutes out of their day and give the prompt a try. If you come up with something, we ask that you post your results in the comments of the deviation so that we can all see each other’s genius.

Timeline
As I mentioned, this will be taking place every two weeks (thanks to everyone who participated in the poll). On the Fridays of one week I will be noting the prompt to the two who will have their attempts posted in the body of the deviation; these two will be randomly chosen. They will note their results back to me. Then, the following Friday I will post the prompt for you all to try. This way our two chosen ones will have a week’s worth of time to orchestrate whatever they decide upon.

Member Involvement
Now, you may be thinking this will be largely admin and I stumbled across that same thought. So, here is my solution. If any member participates for THREE prompts in a row, I will add the member’s name to my randomizing program and they will now have the chance to be chosen to submit their writing as the body of the prompt deviation. On the same note, if that member ceases to participate for THREE prompts in a row, I will remove them from the randomizer so that those of you who are really active with this get a fair chance.

To wrap this up, September 18th will be the first prompt and I look forward to seeing all of your writing there! Feel free to post any questions or concerns and I’ll be sure to address them as quickly as I can. :)
